This position is eligible for
the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

The Physician( Neurology ) Specialty Care service at the Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center is responsible for examining and treating patients who experience disorders, illnesses and injuries that affect the nerves, spinal cord and brain. Their duties include conducting physical examinations, collecting spinal fluid or other samples and running neurological tests to identify problems.
Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing comprehensive neurological care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including face-to-face and telehealth modalities.
- Leading the neurology inpatient admitting and consult service for several blocks per year, including supervision of fellows, residents, and medical students.
- Performing comprehensive neurological evaluations, including history, physical examination, diagnostic testing, and development of treatment plans. This may include ordering labs, imaging, administering chemo-denervation, adjusting deep brain stimulation (DBS) devices, and conducting follow-up evaluations.
- Offering counseling and education to patients, families, and care partners regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and disease management.
- Supervising and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in movement disorders clinics and other educational settings.
- Participating in academic activities, including bedside teaching, clinic-based instruction, procedural training, and didactic sessions.
- Contributing to administrative, managerial, and quality improvement initiatives through participation in clinical and educational committees, task forces, or special projects within the medical center.
- Maintaining compliance with all VA computer security and access requirements.
- Evaluation and treatment of outpatient and inpatient neurology cases.
Preferred Experience: Candidate must be Movement Fellowship trained. If not, must have a minimum of 5 years experience with movement subspecialty patients and be proficient in managing and programming Deep Brain Stimulator. Candidate should also have experience with toxin injections for dystonias and other movements conditions.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
