Duties may include but are not limited to:

- Current BLS/ACLS required.
- Provides direct patient care specific to Gastroenterology in the ambulatory clinic setting and inpatient units.
- Ensure the quality of care of Veterans being treated.
- Communicates and documents with clarity to patients and medical personnel to coordinate patient care
- Provide collaboration on the clinical care as appropriate.
- Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning and conferences and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members in a manner that enhances coordination of comprehensive care.
- Provide a range of therapeutic interventions specific to Gastroenterology and have clinical privileges to practice including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management.
- Consultative and direct input to inpatient care. Collaborate with midlevel providers and physician colleagues with clear communication and documentation.
- Ensures that the practice of medicine is consistent with Joint Commission, CARF, CA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, VISN standards, national statues and regulations, medical record documentation, mandatory continuing education, and HIPPA policies.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews. Responsible for all performance metrics that are affected by inpatient/outpatient medicine, including but not limited to various metrics such as SAIL, ORYX, LOS, UM admission and continued stay, etc.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Chief of Medicine or designee (i.e., Administrative Officer)

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
