This position is eligible for
the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME).
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Seeking an American Board of Orthopedic Surgery board certified or board eligible trained Orthopedic Surgeon.
- He or she must possess an active state medical license to apply. Fellowship training in Total Joint Reconstruction is required. He or she will also be required to care for General Orthopedic patients and perform on-call duties.
- Treating general Orthopedic pathology including patients requiring arthroplasty, arthroscopy and fracture management both in the clinic and operating room.
- Surgeon will be expected to independently see Orthopedic patients in clinic and perform in-office procedures such as aspirations and injections.
- Surgeon will supervise Orthopedic residents in all settings including outpatient clinic, inpatient/ER consults, and the operating room. They will also supervise multiple PAs and APRNs.
- Skilled in the management of Orthopedic trauma as well as hip, knee and shoulder arthroplasty. Competency in shoulder and knee arthroscopy is expected.
- Surgeon will perform a breadth of Orthopedic surgeries, both simple and complex, elective and emergent.
- Surgeon needs to demonstrate interest and experience in academic teaching as it is an integral part of our program.
- You will be expected to serve as a mentor and teacher for residents in an accredited program
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
