Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm and rotating call including weekends

Duties:
The Radiation Oncologist at the Kansas City VA Medical Center is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients requiring radiotherapy. The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting medical histories, physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning.
- Ability to comprehensively assess patients presenting with cancer and related diseases.
- Providing advanced radiation therapy to patients, including planning and delivery of radiation treatment.
- Ability to make informed decisions regarding patient care and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participating in the call rotation with other radiation oncologists.
- Utilizing tele-medicine services to provide care to patients at Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
- Advising and counseling patients and their families regarding the implications of treatment, potential side effects, and prognosis.
- Ordering and interpreting appropriate imaging studies and laboratory tests to guide treatment.
- Providing ongoing outpatient and inpatient care for a diverse patient population.
- Prescribing and managing medications related to cancer treatment within the defined scope of practice.
- Offering education and support to patients, families, and healthcare team members.
