The
Chief of Primary Care duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- The incumbent directly supervises Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Advance Practice Registered Nurses.
- The incumbent will complete all appraisals, proficiencies, FPPEs, OPPEs, pay for performance, disciplinary actions, and Time and Leave approvals.
- The incumbent resolves Congressional, White House, VISN, and local facility Action Items, patients' complaints, and staff's complaints.
The incumbent is responsible for ensuring adequate staffing, adequate alert surrogate coverage, and timely patient access for the Primary Care site they serve
- The incumbent is expected to participate in staff meetings, educational activities, administrative and other duties as assigned.
- The incumbent will chair the monthly provider meeting and assists with planning the bimonthly PACT trainings.
- The incumbent also covers alerts and patients for Primary Care Providers when they are on leave.
- Has clinical responsibilities, and will be providing acute care, chronic disease management, and preventive care for primary care male and female patients.
- The incumbent is expected to practice in accordance with professional standards of care, core values and with a commitment to excellence. The incumbent will utilize electronic medical records in accordance with NF/SG VHS policy and other regulatory bodies.

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for
the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday; 7:00 am - 5:30 pm.
