Major Duties Include, but are not limited to the following:
- Perform standard 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKGs) on patients as requested by healthcare providers.
- Ensure proper patient position and placement of electrodes to obtain accurate readings.
- Interpret basic EKG results and escalate findings that require further analysis by a physician or cardiologist.
- Prepares patients for EKG procedure by explaining the process and answering any questions.
- Maintain a compassionate and professional demeanor to ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
- Operate EKG machines and related equipment proficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on EKG and other cardiac monitoring equipment to ensure functionality.
- Ensure accurate and timely input of EKG data into the patient's electronic medical record (EMR) from MUSE.
- Review and verify the quality and accuracy of EKG recordings before submission into MUSE and to the healthcare provider.
- Completes Encounters for EKGs in CPRS.
- Place ZIO monitors, Event monitors, and Mobile Cardiac Outpatient Telemetry (MCOT) monitors on patients.
- Provide patients with instructions for the use of these monitors and ensure proper placement and functioning.
- Document procedures and accurately enter the patient's data into the appropriate monitoring registry.
- Ensure timely retrieval and processing of data from these monitors for clinicians to view.
- Assist in conducting treadmill and exercise stress tests under the supervision of a physician or qualified healthcare provider.
- Monitor patients during stress tests and record data accurately, ensuring patient safety throughout the procedure.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to patient care and data management.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA regulations at all times.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66

Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP): This occupational series is eligible for the Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP). Repayment is limited to $40,000 annually, up to $100,000 in lifetime awards.
