General duties include, but are not limited to:
- Clinical practice, supervising and teaching fellows, residents and medical students in the specialties of Hematology-Oncology.
- Responsible for providing consultation in Hematology-Oncology, both for diagnosis and treatment in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Share attending call responsibilities with Hematology-Oncology specialists in covering some nights, weekend and holiday calls as needed. The physician will round with the team of fellow(s), resident(s), and medical student(s) as regards to inpatient settings.
- Lead and manage the Hematology-Oncology team consisting of fellows, residents, medical students, Pharmacists, Mid-Level Providers, etc., while on inpatient service or in a clinical setting.
- Administratively responsible to the Chief of Medicine. Clinical oversight is provided by the collaborating physician, Section Chief, Hematology-Oncology. The physician, as a member of the department, communicates with other healthcare providers to manage consults and additional services as required.
- Recognizing patients appropriate for referral or consultation with the collaborating physician. Consultations with collaborating physicians may occur through personal, telephone, or electronic media contact.
- A physician co-signature of resident and student notes will be required for the admission history, physical examination and admission plan for new patients as well as daily plan care/progress note for established patients. Discharge notes and discharge summaries will be electronically co-signed. A discharge order may be written with the concurrence of the physician.
- Clinical activities may include, but are not limited to, clinical assessment and evaluation - Inpatients and Outpatients. Health care management of assigned veteran patients with acute and chronic illnesses. Ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic studies. Ordering consultation and referrals - Inpatients and Outpatients. Patient follow-up, as appropriate. Health promotion and disease prevention. Patient, family, and staff education and counseling. Clinical research (must have separate research approval).
- Administrative activities, including performance improvement activities, research, and non-clinical tasks as assigned. Exhibits leadership in initializing changes in patient care programs based on current concepts and findings from research and studies. Stays informed on developments in the management and treatment of diseases and illness through continuing medical education.
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervising physician or his/her designee as it relates to scope of practice.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
