Work Schedule: Variable, 12-hour shifts, days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays

The Physician position is located in our Emergency Department, organizationally aligned under the Primary Care Service, at the VA Central California Healthcare System (VACCHCS), Fresno, CA. VACCHCS provides a full range of patient care services, as well as education. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary, secondary, and long-term care in the areas of primary care, specialty medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care. VACCHCS is affiliated with the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Fresno Medical Education Program and provides a rich academic environment including postgraduate medical education training for residents and fellows in specialties and sub-specialties.
The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide a full range of emergency care in the Emergency Department for Veterans at the VACCHCS
- Attending in the VACCHS Emergency Department to provide direct patient care
- Clinical duties may encompass both in-person and virtual care modalities
- Participation in administrative duties as assigned, which may include Process Improvement/Quality Assurance activities or other activities
- Clinical activities may take place during VA off-tour hours, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
- Clinical supervision of trainees in the Emergency Department and in any assigned clinical duties
- Other duties as assigned.
