This occupational series is eligible for the Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP). Repayment is limited to $40,000 annually, up to $100,000 in lifetime awards. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide nursing care such as rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, completing clinical reminders, and documenting medication reconciliation.
- Perform specimen collection, breathalyzer use, labeling, and storage of laboratory samples.
- Administer medications, including immunizations and injections, and monitor for variances.
- Assist with patient education on disease processes, medications, and treatment plans.
- Conduct patient-focused assessments and report findings to the Registered Nurse, Provider, or clinician.
- Maintain clean and safe patient care areas, restock supplies, and complete equipment checks.
- Participate in care team meetings, nursing reports, and unit or facility committees.
- Use therapeutic communication with Veterans and families and provide courteous customer service.
- Respond appropriately to emergent and non-emergent situations using approved interventions.
- Collaborate with telehealth and clinic staff and assist with telehealth duties as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. Weekend and holidays may be required.
Additional Pay:
- Shift Differential - 10% of basic pay for work performed during regularly scheduled hours between 6pm and 6am.
- Weekend Premium - 25% of basic pay for work performed between the hours of midnight Friday and midnight Sunday.
- Holiday Pay - 2 times basic hourly rate for regularly scheduled, non-overtime work on a designated holiday.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66

Physical Requirements: This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear and distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. Duties may involve long periods of walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. The role also requires the ability to transfer patients and objects as needed.
