Duties include, but are not limited to:
- The psychiatrist will perform evaluations, diagnosis(es), treatments, and preventions of mental health disorders.
- Perform comprehensive examinations and assessments, determining diagnosis(es), and completing medical work-ups.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, referring to other specialties or appropriate community resources.
- Provide appropriate clinical documentation of patient care in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) in a timely manner. Training regarding the use of CPRS will be provided by the VAMC. All documentation shall be completed in accordance with VA policy and procedures.
- Ensure accreditation requirements are met for all applicable survey and inspection processes to include, but are not limited to compliance with JCHACO, CARF, and OIG.
- Follow all VA guidelines regarding infection control and safety.
- Adhere to all quality performance measures.
- Provide examinations/reviews as assigned to support Mental Health services.
- Collaborate with approved fee-based community Mental Health inpatient programs to assist/coordinate discharge planning, medication and follow-up appointments, as well as, coordinating with ambulatory care services, as appropriate.
- May participate in supervision of residents and medical students assigned to Outpatient Psychiatry and/or Emergency Department.
