Duties include, but are not limited to:
- The psychiatrist provides evaluation and treatment for patient population.
- The psychiatrist must be skilled in psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, integrative mental health modalities, and will provide therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessments, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders.
- Ensures practice of psychiatric medicine is consistent with TJC, CARF, HIPAA, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, and mandatory continuing education.
- Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care.
- Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
- May participate in supervision and teaching in support of the psychiatric residency program, performs on call duties, and performs other directly related duties as assigned.
- Provides chart-based consultation, including E-consults as needed/requested.
- Offers and provides formal education sessions as desired by other team members.
- Provides ongoing training, supervision and backup for care management (CM).
- Provides appropriate clinical documentation for all contacts with or about Veterans. Documents patient care in the patient medical record via the Computerized Patient Record System. Training regarding the use of the Computerized Patient Record System will be provided by the VAMC. All Documentation shall be completed in accordance with VA policy and procedures.
- Provides staffing coverage to support the general mission of the assigned program, including functions related to interdisciplinary staff coverage, addressing urgent and crisis patient events/situations, and assisting in the training functions of the program, as assigned and consistent with professional skills, training and experience. Documents such activities as consistent with all applicable medical center policies and procedures.
- May participate in the supervision and teaching of medical students in association with ETSU/Quillen Medical School.
- Adheres to all quality management performance measures. The psychiatrist will complete clinical reminders, encounters, and clinical pertinence reviews as directed.
- The psychiatrist will, when called upon, engage in a collaborative agreement with a nurse practitioner and/or provide clinical supervision to a physician assistant.
- Participates in performance improvement activities, physician peer review, committees as assigned, and other duties as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
