The Breast Imaging Radiologist is responsible for the interpretation of breast imaging studies, as well as the performance of image-guided breastinterventions.Major Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Interpretation of Imaging Studies:
- Interpret mammography, breast ultrasound, and breast MRI studies (if applicable).
- Interpret general radiology studies when not engaged in breast imaging responsibilities.
- Provide timely and accurate diagnostic reports, following standard diagnostic criteria and protocols.
Image-Guided Interventions:
- Perform image-guided breast procedures such as biopsies, needle localizations, and aspirations.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary breast care team, including surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, and primary care providers.
- Participate in breast cancer case conferences (tumor boards) and provide input on imaging findings to aid in clinical decision-making.
Patient Care:
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding imaging findings and recommended follow-up.
- Provide guidance and support to patients undergoing breast imaging and interventions.
Quality Assurance:
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives within the breast imaging section.
- Ensure compliance with ACR (American College of Radiology) and MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act) standards.
Education and Training:
- Provide education and training to radiology residents, fellows, and technologists in the field of breast imaging and general radiology.
- Participate in continuing medical education (CME) to stay current with advancements in breast imaging techniques and technologies.
Research and Development:
- Optional engagement in clinical research projects related to breast imaging and contribute to the advancement of the field.
- Optional participation in grant writing and publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
Administrative Duties:
- Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures related to breast imaging.
- Assist in the maintenance of accreditation from FDA, MQSA, ACR, and VA including quality control and assistance with required workflow and auditing with the lead mammography technologist.
- Participate in departmental meetings and committees as required.

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for
the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
