Summary

About the Position: This position is located within Tripler Army Medical Center in the Directorate of Medicine, Department of Medicine Cardiac Catheterization Lab services in Honolulu, Hawaii. Medicine.

Duties

Assist physicians and team members during a variety of highly complex, potentially life-threatening invasive cardiovascular procedures on stable and unstable patients. | Ensure patients are well-informed of the procedure and understand circumstances that will occur during procedures. | Clean instruments and maintain sterile instruments inventory. | Assist in identifying and selecting patients procedure-specific catheters, supplies, equipment, and contrast medium and volume and then manipulates or changes supplies or instruments in order to meet the requirements of the procedure. | Attend to patients safety and comfort needs before, during, and after procedures.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One-year of specialized experience which includes assisting physicians during complex procedures; monitoring patient care and maintaining sterile field; assisting physician in direct support of cardiac catheter-based procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education:
One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Cardiovascular Science.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. In the event of severe weather conditions, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. | This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time. | This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays. | This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. | This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. | This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. | Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements. as described in 5 CFR Part 315. | This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. | Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series. This position is subject to screening and update of | Must be able to obtain and maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). | The duties of this position may require the incumbent to carry a cell phone and be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a rotational basis, based on the needs of the organization.
