Summary

This position is located in the Division of International Relations (DIR) at the Fogarty International Center (FIC). The International Health Program Officer is responsible for all administrative, management, and policy development activities related to the implementation and coordination of NIH supported
biomedical research programs all over the world.

Duties

Formulates policy positions on collaborative activities. | Fosters bilateral and regional relationships through consultation with health officials and scientists in geographic area of responsibility. | Develops and negotiates bilateral and regional agreements for biomedical research programs; fosters, facilitates and coordinates NIH participation under such agreements; oversees NIH activities to ensure compliance. | Maintains liaison with DHHS and other US government agencies. | Represents NIH on international delegations, committees and working groups.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the International Health Program Officer GS-601, you must have a Bachelor's degree or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained).

In order to qualify for an International Health Program Officer, 0601, at the GS-14 level, you must have at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: 1.) organizing and coordinating international scientific research activities for an organization; 2.) advising senior management on the political, economic, and cultural dynamics of a region/country and their effect on scientific research programs and activities; 3.) recommending and implementing long-term strategic priorities for international scientific research programs.

You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
