About the Position: This position is located in the Diagnostic section, Department of Radiology, Clinical Support Services Directorate in Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center. Shift work is required Mon-Fri Day/Evening/Overnight. Work hours (1)- 0700-1530; (2)- 1500-2330.

Duties
Perform difficult ultrasound examinations. | Recognize abnormalities that may require the direct observation and/or real-time scan by the Radiologist. | Follow operational procedures and patient management guidelines to ensure continued accreditation status and quality patient care. | Evaluate equipment performance. | Conduct hands-on training and technical oversight of other technicians. | Performs post processing imaging and calculations/measurements as required for each study.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) performing complex ultrasound examinations; 2.) assisting with pre-procedure and post-procedure ultrasound examinations, (such as fine needle aspiration and/or biopsy); and 3.) maintaining ultrasound equipment and accessories. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Sonography or Radiology.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. | This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
