Summary

About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. It is located in the Patient Administration Records/Medical Boards at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center (DDEAMC) at Fort Gordon, Georgia. The Primary purpose of the position is to serve as the Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO) for Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) and its geographic area of responsibility.

Duties

Administer the Physical Disability Evaluation System program for the Medical Treatment Facility by managing Medical Evaluation Board processing, Temporary Disability Retired List reevaluations, and all associated case coordination activities. | Counsel military personnel, retirees, and family members on rights, benefits, and obligations during the disability evaluation process. | Coordinate medical evaluations, appointments, and medical related care for Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard personnel. | Refer personnel to appropriate agencies to obtain counseling/guidance on benefits provided by the Department of Labor, Social Security Administration and Veterans Affairs (VA). | Advise service members on required medical and administrative documentation by evaluating evidence, facilitating case development, and supporting preparation of appeals, rebuttals, and legal submissions. | Assist in preparing appeals and rebuttals for military personal, retirees, or family members.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: counseling service members and their families on disability evaluation processes; coordinating case actions by scheduling appointments, tracking case progress, and maintaining records using automated systems; and collaborating with medical providers, legal counsel and administrative staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. | This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. | This position is subject to TDY or business travel requirements to various locations. This may require travel via privately owned vehicles, commercial transport platforms, and/or military aircraft, ships, and vehicles. | This position is required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician. | This position requires incumbent successfully complete a Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO) training and certification course within 180 days of their appointment and annually thereafter.
