This position is located on CLC-B which is a locked dementia LTC unit at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center.
Duties include but are not limited to;
- Ability to recognize changes in residents' conditions and the need for intervention which may be of emergent nature requiring immediate attention.
- Reports of any noted change in patient's condition to RN or MD/DO.
- Provides effective education to patients and/or family members in relation to common disease processes, medication and prescribed treatment regimes.
- Knowledge and skill sufficient to prepare, administer and appropriately document actions taken specific to commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous medications as permitted by approved local facility policies and procedures.
- Recognizes and appropriately responds to breakage or malfunction equipment, safety hazards, and supply deficiencies promptly reporting to appropriate personnel for corrective action.
- Actively participates in resident care planning and conferences and recommends changes to the plan of care with the registered nurse.
- Supports individual resident choices, autonomy and preferred routines in activities of daily living.
- Performs basic personal care for the resident utilizing standardized procedures and promotes independence in ADL activities.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
