Duties spanning GS-3 through GS-6 include, but are not limited to:
- Provide practical nursing care to Veterans in Specialty Care clinics across multiple medical specialties.
- Record vital signs, obtain intake histories, complete clinical reminders, and assist providers with exams and other patient care needs.
- Observe, document, and report changes in patient condition to the RN, physician, or other appropriate provider.
- Follow approved nursing protocols, standing orders, Specialty Care SOPs, and PACT Handbook guidance.
- Maintain quality care, customer service, patient privacy, dignity, and age-appropriate care standards.
GS-03 Duties Include:
- Perform assigned practical nursing duties as a novice under close supervision.
- Carry out basic patient care tasks requiring basic technical competence and skill.
- Support routine Specialty Care clinic activities such as vital signs, intake histories, and clinical reminders.
- Assist providers with physicals, diabetic foot exams, female wellness exams, and other assigned care needs.
- Follow direct supervisory guidance, approved protocols, and established procedures.
GS-04 Duties Include:
- Perform basic practical nursing care assignments under frequent guidance.
- Observe, identify, and respond to patient nursing care needs in Specialty Care.
- Complete recurring clinical support tasks with increasing independence.
- Assist with patient care activities that support institutional performance measures.
- Follow approved Primary Care Nursing Protocols, standing orders, and Specialty Care SOPs.
GS-05 Duties Include:
- Provide a full range of practical nursing care to patients with varied physical and/or behavioral needs.
- Carry out complex practical nursing care assignments under RN or provider supervision.
- Prepare, administer, and document commonly prescribed medications and treatments as permitted by policy.
- Recognize emergency needs, seek RN/provider assistance, and assist in emergency or resuscitation procedures.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and supply deficiencies.
GS-06 Include:
- Perform at the full performance level for practical nursing care involving varied physical and/or behavioral patient needs.
- Carry out the most complex practical nursing care assignments with general review by an RN or provider.
- Use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments.
- Assist with complex diagnostic tests and specialized procedures, including patient preparation, equipment handling, and monitoring.
- Serve as a preceptor to orient, educate, and train less experienced LPNs/LVNs, Nursing Assistants, or Health Technicians.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66
