DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY: This position is being filled using Direct-Hire Authority (5 CFR 337.205) for this occupation.
Duties include but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Providing patient education within scope of care or while providing an intervention (i.e., post-procedural care, splints care and wound care).
- Assisting with behavioral/psychiatric situations in an outpatient setting. to include crisis intervention, management of aggressive or suicidal psychiatric patients, and one-to-one observations.
- Performs mental health screenings.
- Following facility, national, and local pharmacy guidelines for the administration and disposal of medications/Immunizations. IM, SC,Oral, Topical, Nebulized Medications.
- If trained, may assist with related technical health care procedures as deemed competent by supervising physician/training competency. Ensuring all instrumentation is set up properly for scheduled procedures (i.e., skin biopsies, pap smears, etc.).
- Completes patient screening assessments, obtains vital signs, obtains patient health history, chief complaints, medication history, and identification of health related conditions that may impact the patient's health. Completion of clinical reminders.
- Documenting actions, interventions, and procedures in patient medical records.
- Taking and recording vital signs. Intervenes based upon patient symptoms and established protocols/standards of care. Assesses patient status and keeps physician informed of any change or need for additional treatment.
- Performs ongoing patient care duties in the primary care setting. If trained, may complete procedures IE: Ear irrigations, 12 lead EKG, Bladder Scans, Catheterization, Wound Care.
- Perform patient care testing analysis on point of care instruments (Rapid Strep, Glucose, PT, Basic Urinalysis,Strep, Flu/RSV Panels, HCG etc.)
- Ensuring all instrumentation is set up properly for scheduled procedures (i.e., skin biopsies, pap smears, etc.).
- Performing phlebotomy to collect blood samples.
- Specimen collection and preparation ( example: collecting and labeling venous blood samples and mucous specimens), Appropriate processing oflab specimens.
- If trained, may administer Oxygen, basic BLS as deemed appropriate by supervising physician.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm.
